Teen Group Classes:

Foil Fencing Sessions

Class Description: Fencing develops discipline, stamina, and coordination.   Foil is the lightest and most flexible of the three weapons of modern fencing.  Think "Three Musketeers" style swordplay. Students will learn the history, etiquette, and rules of sports fencing.  Each month, they will use the Olympic style electronic scoring gear to test their knowlegde and skills in a friendly competition between classmates. 

Gryphon uses a 5 tiered fencing skill level system based on the French & British National Training programs.  Students will need to demonstrate fencing knowledge, improve physical fitness, and master fencing skills before earning their colored "belt" and moving to the next level.

Beginning to Intermediate Teen Foil: Wednesdays 7:00-8:30pm, and/or Saturdays 11am-12:30pm
Intermediate to Advanced (Competitive)Teen Foil: Tuesdays and Fridays 7:00-8:30pm

Fee: $20 drop-in or $65 for 4 classes or $110 for 8 classes.

Epee Session

Participants will learn the "dueling" blade.  Epee requires precise timing and point control.  This class is for beginning and intermediate level epee fencers.
Tues. & Thurs. 7-8:30pm

Ages 12 and up (Instructor: Coach Atefeh Seif)
Fee: $20 drop-in or $65 for 4 classes or $110 for 8 classes. 

Saber Session

Saber is the "cut & thrust" weapon in modern sports fencing.  Think "Pirates of the Caribbean" type sword play.  This class is open to every level of saber fencer from beginner to advanced.
Ages 12 and up. (Instructor: Coach Price)
Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00-8:30pm, Fridays 5-6:30pm
Fee: $20 drop-in or $65 for 4 classes or $110 for 8 classes.

Taste of Fencing (click for details & schedule)

“Taste of Fencing” is a condensed 3 hour class in which participants will learn the history and etiquette of modern sports fencing, plus the basic footwork, attacks and defenses.  The class will culminate in a fun competition among the students using Olympic style electronic scoring gear.  “Taste of Fencing” offers students an opportunity to easily try this fun, safe and challenging sport.  

Teens 12 and older and Adults
Dates & Times:Some Saturdays & alternate Sundays of every month, 2-5 pm
Fee: $49
